Tiffany Haddish Teaches Her Idol Oprah Winfrey How to Make Her Signature 'Joyful Greens'

Oprah Winfrey just made Tiffany Haddish’s dreams come true, and in return, the media mogul got a cooking lesson.

On Thursday’s episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show, it was revealed that The Last Black Unicorn author may just be Winfrey’s biggest fan ever. While sitting with DeGeneres, Haddish shared that she met Winfrey 15 years back while working as an extra on the set her movie Their Eyes Were Watching God.

The Girls Trip star continued that Winfrey noticed her sense of humor on set. DeGeneres, seizing the moment, then brought out Winfrey, who had been waiting backstage.

After the comedian wiped away her tears of joy, the three headed to the stoves where Haddish taught the BFFs how to make her special “joyful greens” (video above) that she had previously cooked for Taylor Swift’s potluck dinner party.

Haddish revealed that the secret ingredient is your attitude. “The key to making joyful greens is to be joyful, you gotta smile when you pick them,” she laughed. “You gotta be happy when you cooking them, washing them—all that.”

Mixed with the collard greens (from her own backyard) was apple cider vinegar, liquid smoke, seasoning salts, onion, pepper, and a special family spice concoction to add a kick.

Back in December, Haddish had also revealed to DeGeneres another grand plan she had for herself and Winfrey: Tiff and O’s, a traveling farmer’s market booth that would sell veggies from her and Oprah’s flourishing gardens.
