50 Benefits of Being Fearless At Fifty, From The Founder Of Million Dollar Women
Driven by the challenges she faced while scaling up Little Pim, her insatiable appetite to create solutions and her indomitable spirit, Pimsleur has spent the last several years powering toward her mission to help one million female entrepreneurs reach one million dollars in revenue by 2020.
The below is based on a post from Pimsleur’s Instagram account where she often shares inspiration for entrepreneurs, highlights the everyday joys of motherhood and reminds us all that life and success don’t have to exist separately.
Here are her top benefits of being fearless at 50:
I turn 50 today! I always dreaded turning 50, thinking it was the end somehow. Nope, it is just the beginning!
1. Feeling fit and fabulous
2. Having kids who are now little people I love spending time with
3. Having more confidence and ease with every year that passes
4. Letting the game come to me a bit more
5. Knowing that what other people think is none of my business
6. Finding love and wild romance again (at 48)
7. Having cocktail hours with friends more often, and more unapologetically
8. Realizing my slight OCD is a professional advantage
9. Cracking myself up even if no one else gets it
10. Going back to the places I have had amazing experiences and sharing them with my kids, friends and boyfriend
11. Buying expensive make up
12. Not apologizing for stuff I am not good at – I own what I do well and outsource the rest.
13. Teaching what I know to those who don’t know it yet
14. Enjoying the heck out of my chosen sisters and family (in addition to my small, but awesome, actual family)
15. Taking inspiration from women who dared, who lived bold lives and paved the way for me to enjoy bountiful financial and professional opportunities
16. Traveling with my grown kids to foreign countries
17. Making time to entertain
18. No longer feeling like I am too young for Botox
19. Embracing my entire life story, not just the good parts
20. Still quoting from movies like When Harry Meets Sally, even though fewer people get it (“I’ll have what she’s having!”)
21. Rereading books and seeing new things in them I didn’t see at 20, 30 or 40
22. Realizing I know more than I thought I did
23. Taking some places off my bucket list and focusing on the ones that matter most
24. Being picky about who I spend time with
25. Being friends with my mother
26. Playing full out in business
27. Wearing glasses; my new fashion accessory
28. Getting to say no to things I don’t want to do professionally
29. Being a badass and an entrepreneur before either of those terms were in use
30. Giving back and “lifting where I stand” as much and as often as I can
">Unsure of what is holding you back from taking the next step in your career? Feeling fearful about changing industries or starting your own business? This is Fear Factors, a Q&A series with female entrepreneurs and executives who share their journeys beyond fear to success.
I’ve wanted to interview Julia Pimsleur (bestselling author of Million Dollar Women and founder of both Little Pim and the Million Dollar Women Masterclass and Summit) for a while. We’ll do a full interview soon, but I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to share the following in the meantime.
