Derek Adams on the benefits of Plymouth Argyle's warm weather training trip to Marbella
Plymouth Argyle’s players are off to Spain’s Costa del Sol for some warm weather training this week to prepare for the end-of-season run-in.
Temperatures are forecast to be around 19 degrees centigrade in Marbella where the squad will be based and there will be plenty of sunshine.
But this will be no holiday with manager Derek Adams set to put the players through double training sessions.
Incredibly, Argyle have gone from bottom of League One to seventh spot after a run of 10 wins, three draws and only one defeat.
They are now mounting a play-off push and will use the trip to Marbella to prepare for the game against eighth-placed Bradford City at Home Park on Saturday.
Adams said: “We are looking forward to it. We have had a hard season so far and the players have worked ever so hard.
“We will go to get a bit of sun and train in the warm weather.
“It certainly does help. I have done it many times in my managerial career and it’s a good place to go.
“It’s a good time of the year to go there and the facilities are excellent.”
Adams took the Argyle squad to Marbella for warm weather training last winter and when they returned to Plymouth they beat arch rivals Exeter City 3-0 at Home Park.
“It has been organised for a number of weeks now,” added the Pilgrims’ boss.
“It’s about getting the players out there to recharge and look ahead to the final 12 games of the season.”
