Event teaches local veterans how to make fishing rods

CEDAR RAPIDS, IA (KCRG-TV9)-- A group of veterans in Cedar Rapids learned how to make fishing rods on Saturday. The event was held by Titan Project. They’re a group of veterans who work to connect other veterans across the state to build support networks.

About two dozen people came out to the event. Organizers say it's good for veterans to stay active and meet new people.

Titan Project member Clint Koerperich says, "There's so many veterans within the Linn County community, the Cedar Rapids community that you may not know. So in an event like this, it's obviously two guys who are here to build a fishing rod, something they love doing. You know it might grow into a friendship where they actually take something that we've given them, and branch out and help others."
