A cold March day outside.

Ever wonder what the life of an up-and-coming entrepreneur or a CEO really looks like? Considering a leap to a startup? Or just curious about the day-to-day of someone navigating her way in a different industry? Women@Forbes new ‘Day In the Life’ series gives an insider’s view of what these women do — from their inspirational moments and behind-the-scenes at work to the apps, productivity tips and stress-reducing tricks they can’t live without.

Winter is cold and busy. You don’t feel well on some days, and today was one of those days for me. But I don’t let either the weather or my workload stop me from doing my part to feel better and be productive. Here is a day in my life and some tips that will help you power through:

6:45a.m.: Hydrate to wake up.

In the winter, one of the first things I do in the morning is drink hot water. It keeps me warm in the early morning hours and hydrated. One of the most common reasons for being tired is not drinking enough water.

10:30a.m.: Embrace the cold.

Even in the cold, I go outside to take a walk. As long as I dress appropriately, it doesn’t matter what the outside air temperature is. As the Norwegians say, “We don’t have bad weather, we just have people who dress inappropriately.” I know that in order to be productive and at my best, I have to get fresh air. There are no excuses to focus on staying healthy.

3:30p.m.: Be efficient, and make your schedule work for you.

Knowing that I was going to speak today at an event, I waited to tape some video on my phone for a future work engagement. I was already going to get dressed up for an event later that day, and I wanted to be efficient.
