WATCH: How to make transparent potato chips

Would you eat transparent potato chips?

The food and drink industry is known for coming up with the most bizarre inventions and trends.

From black food to blue wine, sushi pizza, unicorn food and the now you can add transparent potato chips to the list.

That's right — someone has invented transparent potato chips and foodies are not having it!

A video posted by C Chanel Food on Facebook and Instagram shows how to make the supposed invisible potato chips.

The potatoes are seasoned with salt and olive oil before it is soaked in hot water for about two hours.

The next step is what has every potato lover upset. The potatoes are drained and the water, mixed with potato starch to form a paste, is fried in a pan

The clear substance breaks like a chip but what it actually tastes like, is anyone's guess.

Facebook user Jodie Betts says: "For a start it's not potato it's potato starch, second they weren't even fried they were dipped in oil and third seriously who comes up with this garbage?" (sic)

Alexus Safari Gipson says: "I was confused as f*** when they put the actual potatoes to the side and started doing things with the water lmao." (sic)

Kelly Upton says: "Soooo do u really think that im going to pass up some real potatoes..just to eat some sh** that looks like fried vaseline😠..Yeah right!! #I'll pass" (sic)

I think I'll pass on this one, thanks.

Here's how you can make your own transparent chips.
