The benefits of Brexit had better materialise soon

Sir, Peter Geiger (Letters, September 26) is incorrect to say that “the antipathy to EU membership is in the British psyche and will not die”. It is the Tory party that has antipathy. The electorate have apathy towards EU membership, or rather, they did, until an unwanted referendum was forced upon them. In a poll conducted by YouGov for Professor Philip Cowley, it was found that voters would change their minds on Brexit if they believed that they would be worse off by as little as £25. They are currently giving the government the benefit of the doubt and want it to “get on with it”, but if real tangible benefits do not materialise soon, they will turn against Brexit.
